INTERNET New Rates for the INTERNET services, with Effect from 01-04-99. Internet is a conglomeration of computer networks and millions of computers spanning the globe. Now this information superhighway is accessible to anyone, any where in the world. Some common uses of the internet are E- mail, file transfer, home page, world wide web, information retrieval, games, shopping etc. Department of Telecommunications provides Internet services at many of the locations in India along with VSNL & MTNL.Internet access is available at following locations: Mumbai, New Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Mysore, Jallandhar, Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, Gwalior, Nagpur, Goa, Hyderbad, Guwahati, Kollam, Pondicherry, Hubli, Coimbatore, Agra, Ernakulam, Allahabad, Kottaym, Madurai, Tiruchi, Nasik, Surat, Shimla, Jammu, Bhopal, Silchar, Mangalore, Palghat, Jamshedpur, Shillong, Bhubaneshwar, Vijaywada, Ambala, Kancheepuram, Jabalpur (Training Centre), Calicut, Siliguri, Vishakhapatnam, Dhanbad, Aurangabad and Guntur. Internet can also be accessed via Packet Switched Networks like Inet, RABMN and HVNET . Types of Access Shell Account The primary level of access for internet users is using a dial up access to the host computer setup at each of the nodes. By connecting to the host computer, the user would be able to use all internet services without requiring any special software on their machine. This access mode is only text based data. Fees for one year or 500 Hrs. whichever finishes earlier is Rs. 5000/- in addition to the registration charge of Rs. 500/- only. TCP/IP Account Tariffs For Dial Up Connections
Incremental tariff in slabs of 20 Hrs at the rate of Rs 30/- per hour. Tariff For Leased Line Ports Per Annum
Installation and testing charges of Rs. 10,000/- as applicable for 64 kbps port will also be applicable to data rates up to 2 Mbps. Tariff for leased ports for recognised educational institutions / organisations / news papers/news agencies for 64 kbps port will continue to be Rs. 4 lakhs per annum. However, for higher speeds, N x 64 kbps tariff will be charged where N is the multiplication factor to arrive at the desired speed. Wherever the charge by applying N x 64 kbps tariff becomes higher than the promotional tariff of the same port speed, lower of the two shall be charged. The existing concession of 20% to software exporters and to 100% EOUs will continue to be applicable on the new tariffs. |
